At Timbawood we specialise in replacing sash windows, casement windows and doors on listed buildings. Our sensitive approach and attention to detail ensures we can preserve the architectural integrity of these unique buildings.

In 31 (and counting!) unique planning authorities across London and the Home Counties, we have been able to fulfil the strict planning criteria needed for windows and doors on listed buildings. We have also carried out specialist works on properties in Conservation Areas under Article 4 in many more authorities.

On listed buildings in 26 of the planning authorities including Islington, Greenwich and Richmond upon Thames, we have installed our elegant slimline double glazing, which looks just like single glazing, to maximise the thermal and acoustic performance of the windows and doors without compromising the design of these unique buildings*. We can also fit double glazed sashes to existing frames, if the frames are in good enough condition to be saved.

Double glazed sash windows on listed building in Greenwich, London

“At every opportunity, Timbawood are my first choice for refurbishing and installing sash windows, particularly on architecturally sensitive properties.”

Drew Muntz, Capital A

Our Heritage windows combine the finest exact-match, elegant design with the latest understated solutions for modern security and performance needs, so there’s no need to compromise on thermal and acoustic performance.

If your property is Grade I, Grade II* or Grade II listed, you will need Listed Building Consent and planning permission to replace or double glaze your existing windows and doors, even if the new ones are the same design, material and finish as your current features.

As experts in the heritage field, we can help you obtain Listed Building Consent by supplying detailed CAD drawings of our windows and doors, and provide advice on materials, finishes and glazing options which are often required for listed building maintenance applications before permissions are granted. We are also happy to supply samples of glass and ironmongery which may be required by planners. Just get in touch to speak to one of our experts.

*Please contact your local planning officer before carrying out any works on listed or conservation properties. Each property is judged on a case by case basis depending on the condition and type of the windows/doors, and the nature of the proposed works.
