Timbawood has just finished work on this elegant Edwardian style property in Richmond, Surrey – installing a range of our timber double glazed sash windows, casement windows and timber doors. The house, on a beautiful street in Richmond, is actually a high-end new build property, sensitively designed and built to match the late Victorian/ early Edwardian style of the area.
The property was designed to the client’s exact specifications, featuring sash windows, timber casement windows and French doors. The centrepiece of the property is a large feature window above the front door, which is close to 3 metres high and 1.5 metres wide, and includes a glazing bar detail to match the rest of the property.
The local, high-end building contractor chose Timbawood’s double glazed windows and doors for their combination of authentic period design and traditional manufacturing methods, with the latest insulation and performance options.
All windows and doors on the property are manufactured using Accoya – which is our number one choice of timber because it is incredibly stable and durable – meaning it won’t swell, twist, warp or rot and therefore requires minimum maintenance. It is also very thermally efficient.
As standard we also offer a wide range of double glazing options of varying thicknesses and specifications, depending on the style and level of insulation required. All our double glazed units include a ‘Low E’ (low emissivity) coating, which reflects heat back into the building and offers far better thermal insulation than plain uncoated glass.
The products we installed in the property include:
Our double glazed ‘Conservation Range’ sash windows include slimmer double glazing than standard double glazing, and feature our trademark slender profiles and meeting rails, and elegant slim glazing bars.
The sash windows are fully weather stripped with acoustic compression seals and finished with traditional sash window hardware in satin chrome. We used opaque glass for the bathroom windows (see above) while maintaining the same period design.
Traditional Front door
The solid Accoya, 6 panel front door with bolection mouldings has a variety of classic period features including a scroll door knocker and side lights and top light in opaque glass, which, like the rest of the windows, are double glazed.
The hardware, including a Banham night latch and deadlock, are in the popular finish of satin chrome.
One of the bedrooms at the back of the property features a set of French doors with a Juliet balcony. These simple, classic fully glazed French doors are also made with Accoya timber and finished with satin chrome hardware. Our French doors have multipoint locking, locking at the top and bottom of the door set as well as in the centre, through a single handle.
On the top floor of the property we designed and installed some smaller double glazed casement windows. These feature casement stays and fasteners with the classic ‘spoon end’ design, in satin chrome.
At Timbawood we specialise in handmade timber windows and doors for period and modern properties, working in Richmond and surrounding areas of London and Surrey.
