A range of our timber sash windows and doors can be seen on this elegant Edwardian property in Putney, London, that we had the pleasure to work on, in collaboration with a local high-end building contractor. These include:
1. Sash Windows
Our Conservation Range, ‘4/8/4’ double glazed timber sash windows with our trademark slim profiles and meeting rails. This window range is ideal for conservation and period properties that require elegant, authentic period design with the latest security and insulation options.
These particular windows, in Accoya timber, feature the popular ‘fitch pattern’ sash fasteners in polished chrome. The 4/8/4 double glazed units are slimmer and more elegant than regular double glazing, without losing any thermal efficiency. This is because they are filled with krypton gas, which is denser and therefore offers more insulation than the regular gas used in double glazing (typically argon gas or air). As standard our glazing units also include a Low E softcoat pane. The sash windows also include full perimeter draught proofing to further improve thermal insulation.
2. Front Door
The front door was typically a focal point of Edwardian properties, and they are often surrounded by wooden porches or verandas, and feature decorative glazing.
The front door that we made for this property features top lights and glazed side panels. We used Accoya timber because of its strength, stability and durability. This popular style of door features a ‘raised and fielded’ solid panel and opaque double glazed panels, with bolection mouldings in keeping with the style of the period.
This door also features a sandblasted door number on the glazed panel above the door, high security Banham locks in polished chrome, and has a ‘dual colour’ paint finish (has a different colour on the interior to the exterior).
3. Internal Doors
The internal fire rated French doors feature a combination of solid panels and glazed panels, with bolection mouldings to compliment the rest of the property. The safety of a property and its inhabitants are of upmost importance in the design of our products – and here we have used a combination of fire rated glass, fire resistant boarding and intumescent seals in the manufacture of these doors to give fire resistance in case of fire.
