Conservation property in Kensington & Chelsea

Listed windows, conservation area Kensington and Chelsea

The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea became one of over 30 planning authorities to feature our slimline double glazing on conservation properties or listed buildings, when we helped restore The Old Post Office building, in a conservation area of Notting Hill, with our exact-match timber sash windows, featuring slimline double glazing which looks just like single glazing.

The conservation property was part of a Victorian terraced row on one of London’s most attractive and sought after roads, made famous by the film ‘Notting Hill’, so it was vital that the replacement sash windows and double front doors were in keeping with the classic Georgian and Victorian architecture of the area.

We fitted our handmade ‘Conservation Range’ sash windows, which are designed to meet the planning criteria of conservation areas, with an array of bespoke options including slimline double glazing and slender, exact-match profile sections, mouldings and glazing bars. For both the sash windows and double front doors, we used a very stable, thermally efficient timber, Accoya, which doesn’t swell or warp.

On the ground floor, a new shop front was fitted to give a simple, elegant look in keeping with the chic, bustling local environment.
